With the first sign of illness, which is usually a sore throat, aches, pains or possibly a fever, the best thing to do is to give your immune system a boost with a few antioxidants it needs for your cells to combat those invaders.
Antioxidants are one of the first lines of defense that the body employs to keep free radicals in check and prevent them from causing a domino effect of damage on other cells. So how does your body respond to this attack? It sends an increased flow of blood to the membranes where the virus/bacteria has invaded since a higher volume of blood helps send forth a geater army of antibodies and white blood cells, which are the foot soldiers of your immune system.
What’s the difference between a virus and a bacterial infection?
A virus’ only purpose is replication and survival. It has no long term goals other than to copy itself and continues infecting new hosts. Yikes!
Then there’s bacteria which is very different. Bacteria is not only a living organism, it carries all the tools it needs for growth and multiplication and it can reproduce on its own.
So what should I take?
Until you can see your physician, there are a few things that you can do to give your cells the chance to fight off these invaders.
I take an Oregano supplement since it is extremely potent antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, antiparasitic,
(anti-everything!) agent. My favorite is A.D.P. by Biotics Research with Emulsified Oil of Oregano.

How do antibodies work?
Each antibody has special sections at the tips of the Y that are sensitive to a specific antigen. When an antibody binds to the outer coat of a virus or a bacterium it can stop their movement through cell walls. A large number of antibodies can also swarm and stick to an invader, signaling to a component system that the invader needs to be removed.
The third supplement I suggest is a packet of Vitadopholis. You can mix it with water or just shake it in your mouth. Most bacteria are harmless and some are even helpful. The bacteria in our intestines is very important in aiding digestion. Sometimes we don’t have enough levels of lactobacillus and VitaDopholis is an all natural product which provides beneficial bacteria that inbeds itself in the walls of the intestines and begins to work right away. click on the site below to order VitaDopholis!
In addition to these supplements you should drink lots of Green Tea. It stimulates the immune system. A few cups a day can also protect skin against UVA radiation.
Stretch: Only a 10 minute stretch will not only be great for your muscles, it will improve your posture and increase blood flow! Even better, give a yoga class a try! It will reduce stress and in some studies increase antibacterial proteins in your body.
Meditate: If you can meditate and clear your mind, you will reduce your stress which will take a burden off of your immune system. If you have a hard time meditating, Go for a short hike in the forest or park! Breathe the aromatic tree oils for they will increase your body’s cells activity.
Eat: More grapes and blueberries!
(frozen wild blueberries from Maine are best)
In a lab comparison, compounds in these two fruits were tops in aiding a bacteria fighting gene.
Avoid: Sugars – Limiting the amount of sugar in your diet is important. Diets high in sugar can lead to overweight and obesity, which increases cancer risk over time. Also avoid polyunsaturated vegetable oils such as: Margarine, vegetable shortening, all partially hydrogenated oils & all foods that contain trans-fatty acids! Olive oil is a much better choice!
When making a salad, replace your vinegar with Apple Cider Vinegar! It has amazing natural cleansing, healing and energizing health qualities! I like Bragg brand. It’s Raw, and gluten free!
Eat hormone free, organically produced products whenever possible. Especially meat and chicken! If I eat meat with hormones, I get hot flashes! With all the great healthy food markets out there, it’s easy to support companies that are more humane to their livestock and help us make better choices in our dairy and meat consumption! Their farming practices of cows eating grass instead of corn helps reduce global warming!
Increase your Omega-3 fatty acid intake by eating more cold water oily fish and freshly ground flaxseed. Add flaxseed to your shakes every day! I keep a bag of almonds and walnuts mixed with dried cranberries in my car so I can munch while running errands so I don’t forget to keep it in my daily diet! Eating nuts everyday raised my HDL level by 10 points in six months. Lower HDL cholesterol puts you at higher risk for heart disease.
